FLORENCE, Wis. — It is with a heavy saddened heart that we announce the passing of Cynthia Jane Walstrom, 85, of Florence, Wis.
Cynthia passed of heart complications at Marshfield Medical Center-Dickinson in Iron Mountain, on Thursday, Feb. 5, 2026, after being a long-time resident at Florence Health Services in Florence.
Cynthia was born on Sept. 24, 1940, in Eveleth, Minn., to Eliza Jane (Williams) and Darrel Walstrom. She was one of four children and her siblings were Marsha, Susan, and Darrel.
She graduated from Eveleth High School in 1958 and went on to get degrees as an X-ray technician and as a licensed practical nurse. She worked at a number of places over the years in both professions.
Cynthia lived a large part of her life in Eveleth, where she raised her two daughters, Tanya and Amy. In Eveleth, she was very active in the United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School and Bible study. She loved to fish and go swimming, while spending time at her family’s cabin on Ely Lake. While living in Eveleth, some of Cynthia’s hobbies were gardening, taking karate lessons, being a talented artist, and dancing the jitterbug whenever the chance arose.

Cynthia moved to Iron Mountain with her two daughters in 1980. She worked at Dickinson County Hospital as a medical transcriptionist in the radiology department until her retirement in 1985. While living in Iron Mountain she continued gardening, painting, doing arts and crafts, photography, and she loved being in nature, and her cherished time spent with family.
She is survived by her daughters, Tanya Chiaverini of Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., and Amy (Timothy) Ross of The Villages, Fla.; grandson Paul (Sarah) Process of Sagola; granddaughter Jade (Matt) Maeder of Wisconsin Rapids; sister Susan (Tom) Gilpin of Eveleth; brother-in-law Lawrence Bonicatto of Iron Mountain; great-grandchildren Jackson Process, Hunter Process, Rosalie Process, Beckham Maeder, and Pierce Maeder; nephews David Bonicatto, Jim (Renee) Bonicatto, and Steven Bonicatto; nieces Amanda (Rob) Jackson, and Sarah Gilpin; and great-nephews Jack Bonicatto, Pierce Bonicatto, and Gabriel Bonicatto.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Darrel and Eliza Jane (Williams) Walstrom; brother Darrel Walstrom Jr.; and sister Marsha Bonicatto.
A private memorial will be held this summer at the Eveleth Cemetery.
