Elaine St. Onge
CUDAHY, Wis. — Elaine Marie (nee Moreau) St. Onge, 86, of Cudahy, Wis., passed away at Hales Corners Care Center on Tuesday, Feb.17, 2026.
She was born June 27, 1939, in Niagara, Wis., the daughter of Gilbert and Clara Moreau. Elaine grew up there and graduated as salutatorian from Niagara High School in 1957. The Class of ’57 had their dreams.
Elaine loved school and took part in many activities, including the Niagara Ice Capades — where Elaine was an amazing ice skater! She was offered a scholarship to UW-Madison, but she made the choice to marry Doug. He never understood why!
Elaine and Doug met on a cold winter night in 1955 as Elaine was walking home from the skating rink with her good friend. Doug and his friend offered a ride. They didn’t take it, but did get the opportunity to talk outside their home. The rest is history. Shortly after their marriage in 1959, Doug was drafted to the army. After a year of sending love letters to each other while apart, Elaine moved to Germany where they enjoyed a year there together before moving back to the U.S.
When they moved to Milwaukee, Doug worked at Caterpillar while Elaine worked as a domestic engineer. Throughout the years, Elaine stayed active and was a great bowler, golfer, skier, and tennis player. Elaine had a great sense of humor and loved playing pranks on her friends and family.
Elaine was a beautiful wife and mother. She is survived by her loving husband, Douglas St. Onge; sons Robert (Jane) St. Onge, Daniel (Laura) St. Onge, and John (Doreen) St. Onge; daughters Mary St. Onge, Jeanne (Erik) Gulliksen, and Susan (Mark) Heitman; two sisters, Carol (Dick) Clement and Yvonne Nabbefeld; and by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Elaine was preceded in death by her three brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill (Barbara), Patrick (Kathy), and James (Marilyn); and brother-in-law Norm Nabbefeld.
Visitation is at St. Veronica’s Catholic Church, 353 E. Norwich St., Milwaukee, on Wednesday, Feb. 25, from 10 a.m. to noon, with a noon Mass to follow. She will be buried in Niagara Cemetery at 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 27.
Our family thanks Hales Corners Care Center and Moments Hospice for their kind care and support through this journey.
