MINNEAPOLIS — Paul Leroy Trump, 95, passed away Jan. 28, 2026.

He was born Dec. 6, 1930, to Paul L. and Elva Lyons Trump in Madison, Wis.

Paul grew up in Madison, graduated from the University High School, received his bachelor of science degree from the University of Wisconsin and, after three years and three months of active duty in the Navy, earned his medical degree at the university followed by an internship and residency at Madison General Hospital. In 1964, he joined the practice of Alexander and Carlson in Iron Mountain, and practiced surgery until his retirement.

Paul was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Kingsford, served on the Breitung Township School Board, belonged to various card clubs and 678. He was very interested in sports both as a participant and fan. When younger, he ran a mile every day, played tennis, racquetball and skied. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. He followed the Milwaukee Bucks, the Minnesota Timberwolves and enjoyed watching wrestling, gymnastics, girls volleyball and figure skating.

He spent many hours working in his yard. He enjoyed reading and read many, many books. After moving to Minneapolis in 2011 to be closer to family, he took up cycling with a power-assisted recumbent tricycle and frequently made 20-mile round trips around the lakes in western Minneapolis.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Judy; his son, Michael (Donna) Trump; his daughter, Paula (Robert) Bell; four grandchildren: Jennifer (Matthew) Gnagey, Robert (Adrianne) Trump, Kathryn (Ashlyn) Heatherly and R. Marshall (Ashlee) Bell; and three great-granddaughters: Naomi and Phoebe Gnagey and Reese Trump. Also surviving are nephews Ryan (Heather) Trump, Eric (Diane) Trump, Mark Phillips, Matthew (Melanie) Phillips, niece Melissa (Gregory) Woodruff and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Elva Trump; his sister, Margaret Phillips; his brother, Clifford Trump; nephew Scott Trump; and niece Elizabeth Phillips.
