Barry W. Romitti
Barry W. Romitti
APPLETON, Wis. — Barry W. Romitti (Powell), 75, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026, with his loving family by his side, where he was able to look out into the quiet woods that he cherished so much.
While his passing leaves a great ache in the hearts of those he loved, there is comfort in knowing he is now reunited with his beloved son, Chadd, who preceded him in death. The thought of their embrace brings peace to our family.
Barry built a life centered around family, friends, resilience and service to others. He greeted everyone like an old friend and could turn any conversation into a story worth listening to. Those stories will be in the memories of everyone who had the privilege of sitting beside him. Barry enjoyed sitting in the woods, watching the “critters” and catching some well-deserved naps. Time in the woods or on the water fishing with those he loved meant everything to him, and those are the memories that so many of his loved ones will carry with them.
Nothing brought him greater joy than his two grandchildren and those who were like his grandchildren. He cherished every moment spent with them, attending their games, school events, and cheering them on in all they did. The pride in his eyes when he spoke about them was unmistakable.
Having fought his own struggles early on in life, Barry developed a deep compassion for others walking the same path. He freely gave his time, encouragement, and understanding to anyone in need. His honesty about his journey inspired many and served as a quiet testimony of hope and redemption.
Barry is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Mary; his son, Bruce (Terri) Romitti; his cherished grandchildren, Carlton and Kaitlyn; mother Janine Romitti; brothers Kevin and Jeremy Romitti, along with many other extended family and friends.
Cancer may have shortened his time here, but it never diminished his spirit. His love for his family, his willingness to help others, and the stories he told so well will echo in the hearts of those who loved him forever. To know Barry was to love Barry.
A celebration of life for Barry will be held on Wednesday, March 18, at The Hillside at Plamann Park in Appleton, Wis., beginning at 4:30 p.m. A short prayer service will be held at 5:30 p.m. with fellowship and food to follow until 8 p.m. Please join us at any time.
