CRYSTAL FALLS — Carol H. Galbraith, 96, of Crystal Falls, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2026, at Aspirus Iron River Hospital.
She was born in Crystal Falls, the daughter of the late Walter and Lily (Hillson) Tamminen. Carol graduated from Crystal Falls High School in 1947 as valedictorian of her class.
She married Byron “Buzzy” Galbraith on Sept. 9, 1950, and they shared many wonderful years together before his passing in September 2023.
Carol worked at Crystal Manor Nursing Home for 25 years, retiring in 1992. She enjoyed traveling, taking bus tours with Buzzy, visiting family, working crossword puzzles, reading, and doing many types of crafts. Carol was known as a strong, loving, caring, and beautiful person who made a positive impact and spread love to everyone around her.
Carol is survived by her son, William Galbraith of Crystal Falls; two daughters, Jeanne Bennett of Menomonee Falls, Wis., and Karen McCabe (Steve Dischler) of Sun Prairie, Wis.; one brother, Glen (Jean) Tamminen of Black River Falls, Wis.; three sisters, Doris Oss and Betty Ann Niemi of Crystal Falls, and Joanne (Roger) Sartori of Manistique; and her sister-in-law, Marilyn Tamminen of Wausau, Wis. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Jeff Bennett, Paul Bennett, Jennifer (Eric) Franz, and Kevin (Margaret) McCabe; one great-granddaughter, Aubrielle Franz; many nieces and nephews; and loved ones.

In addition to her parents and husband, Carol was preceded in death by her sister, Karen Danielson; brothers Walter Tamminen and Donald Tamminen; sister‒in‒law Frances Tamminen; and brother‒in‒laws Ken Danielson, Russell Oss, and Raymond Niemi.
Visitation will be held Saturday, March 21, from 10 to 11 a.m. at United Lutheran Church in Crystal Falls, with a service to follow at 11 a.m. Pastor DJ Rasner will officiate. A luncheon will follow after services.
