Christine Hanley

KINGSFORD — Christine “Chris” Hanley, 53, of Kingsford, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2026, at Marshfield Medical Center-Dickinson, surrounded by loved ones, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on Dec. 28, 1972, Chris was the beloved daughter of Alvin and Susan Blocksom. On March 28, 1992, she married her best friend and soulmate, Tim Hanley. Their 33 years together were filled with deep love, exploring new places and a shared commitment to family and community.

Chris’s greatest joy in life was her family. She was a supportive wife, a loving mother to her son, Alex (Alexandra) Hanley, and a proud grandmother to her treasured grandchildren — Cali, Brooklyn, and Jonah — who were the light of her life. Every moment spent with them brought her immense happiness and pride.

She is also survived by her three brothers, Steve Blocksom, Greg (Norah) Blocksom, and Rich (Tanya) Blocksom; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will carry her memory in their hearts.

Chris dedicated herself to making her community a better place. She was involved with Kiwanis, Habitat for Humanity, and the Chamber of Commerce, believing deeply in the power of people coming together to help one another. Her kindness, compassion, and unwavering commitment to service touched many lives and left a lasting legacy of love and generosity.

When she wasn’t giving her time to others, Chris found peace and joy in nature. She especially loved spending time on the Menominee River, floating peacefully among family and friends, surrounded by the beauty of the place she called home.

Chris faced every challenge with dignity, faith, and strength. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her kindness, and the love she shared so freely with everyone who knew her.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Friday, March 20, at Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Michael March officiating.
