AURORA, Wis. — Danette Dorothy Hagman, nee Bruehl, 76, of Aurora, Wis., passed away peacefully in her husband’s arms on Saturday, March 14, 2026.
She was born in Milwaukee on Sept. 27, 1949, to the late Florian Bruehl and Bernice Glor. Danette was a graduate of Rufus King High School in Milwaukee and then completed her education at the Milwaukee Nursing College.
After completing her education, she worked several nursing positions including settings in hospital, cardiologist’s office, medical sales, supervising an ear, nose and throat clinic and behavioral therapy, ultimately retiring in 2005. Danette was also a devoted caregiver to her elderly parents and in-laws in her last working days.
On Nov. 20, 1971, Danette was married to her life-long love, Darrell Hagman, in Milwaukee.
Danette was dedicated to her faith and family. She was an active member of Mission Covenant Church and their Mission Covenant Women. She loved decorating for the holidays and entertaining her family and friends. In her free time she also enjoyed exploring her genealogy and antiquing.
Danette will be deeply missed by her husband of 54 years, Darrell Hagman, and many nieces, nephews, relatives and very close friends.
In addition to her parents, Danette is preceded in death by four siblings, Donald Scheller, Jerry Scheller, Shirley Bushberger and Audrey Collar.
A celebration of Danette’s life will be held at the Mission Covenant Church when the weather gets a little nicer.
Of the many family, friends and caregivers who have been so good to Danette we would like to particularly thank Nicole Knicker, Dawn Leffel, Tina Fox, Debbie Scheller, Brandon Hittle, Ashley Knicker, Jackie Steinbrecher, Chuck and Shelly Hittle, Adrian Steinbrecher, Angie and Troy Thrane, Kelly Madigan, Judy Carpenter and the wonderful nurses from Marshfield Home Health who eased Danette through her cancer journey.
