John Holbrook

FLORENCE, Wis. — John Holbrook, 88, of Florence, Wis., passed away on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026, surrounded by his family at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, Wis.

John was born on Sept. 30, 1937, in Plymouth, Wis., to the late Robert and Leona (Bermke) Holbrook.

He graduated from Waldo High School. After high school, John served and was honorably discharged from the United States Army and National Guard. He then worked for the Sheboygan County Highway Department until moving to Florence to raise his family, where he worked and retired from the Florence County Highway Department. In addition to his career, John served his community as a Town of Florence Supervisor for 18 years.

John will be remembered for his love of family and his sense of humor. He truly cherished his time spent with his family and wife, creating many great memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

John married Bonita in 1967, and together they shared 58 beautiful years.

He is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie; his children, Jody (Bryan) Knauer of Appleton, Wis., Jen (Chris) Steber of Florence, and Jamie Goudreau of Eagle, Wis.; and grandchildren Matthew Knauer, Nathan Knauer, and Bradly Steber.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Jason Goudreau.

The family would like to thank the Florence County Rescue Squad and the nursing staff of St. Vincent Hospital and Unity Hospice for their care and compassion.

A Gathering of Remembrance will be held from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, at Jacobs-Lundholm Funeral Home in Florence. Please come to visit with the family and share memories of John during those hours.
