IRON MOUNTAIN — Ronald Earl Brown, 87, of Iron Mountain, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at Florence Health Services in Florence, Wis.
He was born Feb. 2, 1939, in Detroit, son of the late Earl and Carmen (Plummer) Brown.
Ron was a 1957 graduate of Morenci High School in Morenci, Mich. On June 30, 1957, he married Lucy Ann Miller, beginning a loving partnership that spanned 69 years.
Ron enlisted in the United States Navy, served his country for two years and was honorably discharged in 1959. He then earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Eastern Michigan University and taught at Dearborn High School as an industrial arts instructor, specializing in electronics.
Throughout his 30-year career, Ron furthered his education, eventually earning his masters degree and taught night classes at Henry Ford Community College. His passion for manual, hands-on education touched countless young lives and careers.

Ron could fix just about anything and was a talented carpenter. He split summers between working construction in the Dearborn area and traveling to their plot of land on Lake Superior. He built a beautiful cabin on Whitefish Bay, where many wonderful memories were made with his family and the community of Paradise. Ron was active throughout his life with many hobbies, including boating, fishing, woodworking, and building and flying remote control airplanes.
He was an avid traveler, who along with Lucy, enjoyed exploring warmer climates in many states with their travel trailer, until settling down in Chandler, Ariz. Ron and Lucy enjoyed almost 30 winters together in Arizona after retiring. The other six months were spent in Iron Mountain, after they moved to the area in 2000 to be closer to their grandchildren.
Ron is survived by his two daughters, Devona Brown (Todd Seppi) and Rhonda (Dan) Carey, both of Iron Mountain; and his four grandchildren, Zakariah Blackmon, and Nathaniel, Myles, and Gabrielle Carey.
In addition to his wife and parents, Ron was preceded in death by his sister, Sandi Antis.
Private family services will be held.
