Bernice Kadulski

She was born on Thursday, Dec. 10, 1925, on the family farm in Norway, to John and Anna (Bal) Wojner. This is our farewell for a great woman, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, great-aunt and friend.

Our mother was a pillar of strength and resilience. She faced many challenges in her life, but she never let them break her spirit. She was a rock for her family, always putting others before herself. After the early death of her beloved husband, Lester, she single handedly raised their children, teaching them the values of hard work, perseverance, kindness and compassion. Her unwavering dedication and selflessness inspired her children to become the best versions of themselves.

She lived a long and fulfilling life, reaching the remarkable age of 100 and her loving presence is forever etched in our hearts. Her legacy will continue to live on through the countless lives she touched and the memories she created. We are forever grateful for the blessing of having such an extraordinary mother, who showed us what it means to truly live a life well lived.

Our mother’s unwavering faith in the Lord was a guiding light throughout her life, offering strength and comfort in every circumstance. Her trust in God’s love and her embracing His promise left her with peace in her heart.

She had a special gift of caring for those who needed it most, including our sister, Carol; Aunt Florence; Uncle Ed Waitrovich; and Aunt Helen Zukowski.

Bernice was a loyal member of St. Anthony Catholic Church for 84 years, the Christian Mothers’ Guild, Royal Neighbors, Marinette County Homemakers, the American Legion Auxiliary, a Red-Hatter and the Shawl Ministry, where she continued her lifetime hobby of knitting till her passing with countless beautiful prayer shawls, lap robes and her pocket shawls. She belonged to the women’s golf league at Oak Crest and bowled with a great group of friends at Doug’s Lanes in Niagara.

Mom and dad were members of Hi-Lo Acres along with life-long friends: Louie and Lorraine Schingten, Bill and Marilyn Allen, Fred and Carmen Rhodes, Edgar and Shirley Aderman, Geri and Jug Brault, Jack and Janet Doucette, Don and Bonnie Anderson — the original Hi-Lo Acres founding members.

Mom’s days were filled with her love of watching “The Young and the Restless,” “The Bold and the Beautiful,” many Hallmark movies but most of all, it was her love of sports. She held a passion for sports, viewing and cheering the Niagara Badgers girls and boys basketball teams, the Green Bay Packers, the Milwaukee Bucks, the Brewers, UW Badgers football and basketball, and Michigan State men’s basketball. Twice a week, mom could be found at the Niagara Senior Center (Niagara Community Center) enjoying lunch with friends and playing 10 games of bingo, where she often was heard proclaiming, “BINGO”!

She is survived by three of her children, Darleen Kadulski, Tim (Tami) Kadulski, Bernadine (Michael) Clement; grandchildren Sarah (Nick) Aschbrenner, Courtney (Jess) Clement, Nick (Sarah) Kadulski, Alex (Sarah Jeanne) Kadulski; great-grandchildren August and Ida Bernice Ashbrenner, Brody, Anderson and Kendall Kadulski, and twins Natalie and Nathan Kadulski; sister Virginia Piwarski; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester; daughters Carol and Sharon and son, Dan; her parents, John and Anna Wojner; sisters-in-law Florence Waitrovich and Helen Zukowski; brothers-in-law Edward Waitrovich, Joseph Zukowski and Arthur Piwarski.

A celebration of Bernice’s life will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Niagara on Saturday, May 2. Visitation will take place at 10 a.m., with the funeral Mass at 11 a.m. A gathering of family and friends will follow at St. Anthony’s Parish Hall, with a light lunch provided by St. Anthony’s Christian Mothers Guild. Private interment will be at the Niagara Cemetery.
