Betty Steber

FLORENCE, Wis. — Betty Ann Steber, 88, lifelong resident of Florence, Wis., passed away Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Woodside Lutheran Home in Green Bay, Wis.

She was born Sept. 2, 1937, in Florence, daughter of the late Thomas and Ethel (Sindars) Taff. Betty grew up in Florence and graduated from Florence High School. After graduation, she was united in marriage to Jim Steber on Feb. 14, 1958. Jim preceded Betty in death in 1982.

Betty worked for many years as a cook at the Florence School. She was the Florence Bobcats’ biggest fan and had a saved seat in the front row for every game. Betty also enjoyed the Green Bay Packers and playing bingo.

Survivors include her children, Michael (Trudy) Steber of Oconomowoc, Wis., Mark (Heidi) Steber of Florence, and Mary Steber of Howard, Wis.; one brother, Donald Taff of Florence; five grandchildren, Rochelle, Nicholas, Sutton (Simone), Piper (David), and Liam; three great-grandchildren, Aviana, Blake and Tatum; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by one brother, Floyd Taff.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 6, from 4 until 6 p.m. at the Jacobs-Lundholm Funeral Home. Private burial will take place in Commonwealth Cemetery.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff, especially nurse Kim, at Woodside Lutheran Home for all the care and compassion they provided to Betty.
