NORWAY TOWNSHIP — David J. Wagner Jr., 76, of Norway Township, passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at his home.

He was born on Aug. 10, 1949, in Norway, the son of David and Helen (Abraham) Wagner.

David was a member of the Niagara High School, Class of 1968. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, Class of 1972, with a degree in biology and chemistry. He retired as a coating and water quality superintendent from Consolidated Papers Niagara Mill in 2000.

He married the love of his life, Anita Thompson, in 2008.

He served for 20 years as an EMT with the Niagara Emergency Unit. Additionally, he served as a municipal judge in Niagara, Wis., for several years.

David was a member of the National Ski Patrol for 29 years, and was an instructor for outdoor emergency and transportation at Norway Mountain and Pine Mountain. He was a member of the Professional Ski Instructors of America.

He enjoyed skiing throughout North America and Canada, kayaking, hiking, music, riding his Harley, making firewood, working with his tractor and traveling in the U.S. and western Europe.

He is survived by his wife, Anita; daughters Sara (Christopher) Londo of Waukesha, Wis., and Chandra (Sam) Kidd of Celbridge, Ireland; stepsons Troy Laarman of Vulcan, and Mitch Laarman of Saginaw; granddaughters Madeline Londo, Macy Londo, and River Thompson, who was the apple of his eye; brother Rick Wagner; and sister Jody (David) Valk.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Thomas Wagner.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., on Monday, May 4, at St. Mary’s Orthodox Church in Iron Mountain, with Father Mark Hagan officiating. Burial will take place in Niagara Cemetery in Niagara.
