Jack Peterson

He was born on Oct. 3, 1940, in Norway, the son of the late Omer and Eleanor (Bjornson) Peterson.

Jack graduated from Norway High School in 1958.

He married his beloved wife, Yvonne Poquette, on Nov. 3, 1962 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Hermansville. She preceded him in death on June 16, 2020.

Jack was an active member of American Martyrs Church in Kingsford.

He was a pipefitter and welder in U.P. Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 111 for 60 years, where he held the offices of agent, president, secretary and business manager.

Jack loved hunting, fishing, going to his camp and playing cards with his friends at the B&B tire shop.

He is survived by his five children, Greg (Annette) Peterson, Darren (Michele) Peterson, Jacqualine (Gregg) Kaminski, Ben (Mollie) Peterson, Jesse Peterson and Ginny Schewe; 19 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister Luanne (Gary Ebrecht) Peterson; and cousin who was like a brother Michael “Micky” (Judy) Dapoz; sisters-in-law Evelyn (Dick) Dombrowski, Gail (Jim) Cater, Yvonne Poquette, Harriet Poquette and Beverly Poquette; many beloved nieces and nephews; and special friends of the family.

Jack was preceded in death by his brother, Dennis (Beth) Peterson; brothers-in-law Alfred (Rita) Poquette, Bernard Poquette, Lester Poquette, Loren Poquette and Gerald Cappaert; and a nephew, Jeffrey Poquette.

Family would like to thank the staff at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility for the care and kindness they showed Jack in his last days.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 8, from 9 to 11 a.m. at American Martyrs Church in Kingsford.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11 a.m. at the church, with Father Greg Heikkala officiating.

Interment will follow at the Quinnesec Cemetery.
