KINGSFORD — Lawrence V. Monosso, 86, of Kingsford, passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Optalis Health & Rehabilitation in Kingsford.

Larry was born March 5, 1940, in Kingsford, son of the late Wallace and Bernice (Bourassa) Monosso. After graduating from Kingsford High School in 1958, Larry attended the police academy and served as a Kingsford Public Safety Officer for four years (1965-1969). He also served in the Army National Guard for six years.

Larry was a talented carpenter and along with Ted Sparapani and Gary Sparpana co-founded Dickinson County Builders, which they operated for nearly 30 years. Eventually, Larry and his son, Mark, started Monosso and Son Builders.

On Aug. 9, 2003, Larry married Maria Jensen in Iron Mountain.

A longtime, active member of the Elks Club, Larry was selected as Elk of the Year. He was also a member of UTC and the Lions Club while serving as an IM-K Federal Credit Union Board Member and a Kingsford Booster Club volunteer. Larry, a die-hard Detroit Lions and Flivvers football fan, enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.

He is survived by his wife, Maria; his two children, Mark Monosso and Rebecca (Mark) Trulock; four stepchildren, Tom (Davina) Jensen, Corrina (Shaun) Willis, Fred (Andrea) Jensen and Brad Jensen; five grandchildren, Marquee (Jim) Wahoviak, Jacob (Lexi) Trulock, Mariah (Roger) Reiten, Jordan Monosso and Madison Monosso; a brother, Arnauld Monosso; a sister-in-law, Liza Garcia; 15 stepgrandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Along with his parents, Larry was preceded in death by two siblings, Richard Monosso and Mary Ann Monosso; and a stepdaughter, Margarita Jensen.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Friday, April 24, at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
