“What we leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others.” — Pericles

KINGSFORD — Deanna Juranek, 45, of Kingsford, went to be with her mom, Eva, on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, in a tragic house fire.

Deanna was born Nov. 10, 1980, in Manistique to Eddie Juranek of Munising and Eva Barrow of Manistique. She attended Munising High School, graduating in 1999. She then went on to get her cosmetology license, but decided that was not a job for her, so she continued to work at Subway.

Deanna fell in love with Pat Salo in 1998. They welcomed their only son, Bryce Salo, in April 2006 in Grand Blanc. Being a mom was her favorite thing in life. She totally doted over Bryce from the time he was a baby until the second she took her last breath. Bryce was her pride and joy, to say it simply.

Deanna loved life and made the best of every situation, bad and good. She was a beautiful dreamer and the biggest procrastinator you would ever meet. She could always be found with a cup of ice or a good glass of wine. She had the most contagious laugh that lit up the room. If you knew her you were lucky; she was a good mother, caregiver, worker, friend, sister and many other things. One of her favorite pastimes was people watching at Walmart or Super One. She was also known for her musical clocks all around her house.

Throughout her life she worked in medical coding and registration at the hospital. She loved helping and interacting with people. Deanna’s most recent job was at Walgreen’s as a pharmacy tech.

She is survived by her son, Bryce Salo (Patrick Salo); father Eddie Juranek; Danny Juranek, brother who she loved very much (Stacey Senger); also many aunts, uncles and friends.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Eva Barrow; grandma and grandpa Barrow; great-grandma and grandpa Ruggles; and uncle Steve Barrow.

If you knew Deanna, she would not want a funeral, so that means we will have a celebration of life in honor of her. That will be announced later.

Recreation Lanes has set up a benefit on June 6 in honor of the ones still living — Bryce, Danny, and Pat — and to honor Deanna and help them rebuild their new life.
