KINGSFORD — Gary D. Vandeville, 77, of Kingsford, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2026, at Optalis Health and Rehabilitation of Kingsford.

Gary was born on July 27, 1948, in Escanaba, to Ervin and Rose (Pare) Vandeville. He graduated from Escanaba High School in 1966 and proudly served in the United States Navy from 1966 to 1970, during which time he was a Vietnam veteran.

Following his military service, Gary dedicated 31 years of hard work to the Quinnesec Paper Mill, retiring in 2008. Outside of his career, he found great joy in the outdoors. He was an avid gardener who took immense pride in his garden, as well as a passionate fisherman and hunter.

Gary is survived by his son, Daniel (Kristin) Vandeville; his daughter, Shelley Vandeville; his life partner, Rose Schneider; his grandchildren, Jacob and Ethan Vandeville; his brothers, Erwin (Sandy) Vandeville Jr., John (Kirsten) Vandeville, and Dave (Annette) Vandeville; his nieces and nephews, Denise Vandeville and Levi, godson Corey (Lisa) Vandeville and Kinsley, John (Kristy) Vandeville, Jenny (Kevin) Vandeville, Matt Vandeville and Richelle, Sherry, and Stephen, Sarah (William) Waidner and Andrew, Daina (Eric) Norden, and Jamie (Amy) Ploof; as well as many cousins.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Robert and Roy Vandeville.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date to honor Gary’s life and legacy.
