NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. — Gustave “Gus” J. Blom, 83, of North Fort Myers, Fla., passed away at home on May 28, 2026, after losing his battle with leukemia.
Born Jan. 12, 1943, in Seymour, Wis., he was the son of Gustave and Gladys Blom.
Gus is survived by his wife of 41 years, Sandra; son Philip (Kandy); daughter Sarah; and stepchildren Scott (Joy) Menghini and Stacey (Rene) Herteux. He also leaves behind a brother, Rodney; and sisters Lola Wisniewski, Gloria Krohlow, Judy Buelow and Linda Kuczynski.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Dennis, Bruce, Keith; and sisters Sharon Grever and Carol Statzer.
Gus worked for Wisconsin Michigan Power Company in Appleton, Wis., before moving to Iron Mountain to work at Champion Inc. until retiring. But on game days at Lambeau Field, you would always find him cheering on the Green Bay Packers as he worked part time for the team for over 25 years and was a season ticket holder for many years. After retirement, he moved to Florida, where he was finally able to enjoy the game of golf and worked as a ranger on the local courses. He was incredibly proud to get two holes in one while golfing — both on the same hole!
Throughout his life, Gus touched countless people who will always remember him as a man of compassion, always thoughtful of others and often putting himself last. He enjoyed a good laugh and always had an interesting story to tell.
Per his wishes, there will be no church service or funeral home visitation. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
And last, Gus asks for his brothers and sisters to pray that our Heavenly Father will accept this sinner into heaven.
