John Nordell

NIAGARA, Wis. — John Victor Nordell, 62, of Niagara, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2026, at his home.

John was born Sept. 6, 1963, in Manitowoc, Wis., son of the late Albert and Josephine (Stachowicz) Nordell. A lifelong resident of Niagara, John was a 1982 graduate of Niagara High School. He started working in 1988 at Niagara Telephone Company (now NSight) as a technician.

An avid Wisconsin sports fan, John always cheered on the Packers, Brewers, Bucks and Badgers. He was a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Niagara. John enjoyed downhill skiing, hunting, shooting pool, and grilling. He also enjoyed visiting the Keweenaw Brewing Company in Houghton and having a Widow Maker, which was one of his favorite beers.

John cherished the time he spent with his kids and the hobbies they shared — whether it was attending races at the Norway Speedway with his son, Bob, hitting the slopes for a day with his son, Dustin, or cheering from the stands to show his support for his daughter, Shanna. He loved animals and spending time with his favorite dog, Rusty.

He is survived by his former wife and mother of his children, Jody Holmstrom; his three children, Bob Nordell (Ann Quick) of Homestead, Wis., Dustin (Valerie) Nordell of Stillwater, Minn., and Shanna Nordell (Jordan Zawada) of Kingsford; a sister, Mary (Paul) Martin of Kingsford; several nieces and nephews; and his dear family friend, Bill Collinson of Niagara.

John was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Nordell.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 27, at the Country Bar in Niagara. Burial will be in Niagara Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the Nordell family requests donations be sent to Special Olympics Area 38 via check or online at https://fundraise.specialolympics.org/JohnNordell.
