KINGSFORD — Mary G. Raketich, 79, of Kingsford, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at her home.
Mary was born Dec. 12, 1946, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late George and Deloris (Pozza) Weber. She graduated from Kingsford High School and was a lifelong resident of the area. Mary was the head cook for the Breitung Township School District for 25 years. She was a member of St. Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church.
Mary enjoyed gardening and keeping her house in pristine condition inside and out. She loved taking rides with Dave and they frequently spent time at his camp. Mary’s family was her pride and joy and she enjoyed nothing more than spending time with them.
She is survived by a daughter, Bobbie (Steve) Povolo; a son, Kevin (Karen) Raketich; a daughter, Toni (Joe) Scarpignato; and a son, Mike (Amy) Raketich; a significant other, David B. Johnson; two sisters, Kay (Jack) Wedin of Iron Mountain and Rose Schneider (Gary Vandeville) of Kingsford; grandchildren Nik Povolo (Jamie Kaad), Tyler (Cassie) Povolo, Chelsea (Terry) Rogers, Charlotte Raketich, Rocko and Cash Scarpignato, and Cade, Maddy (Dylan) and Brandon; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Milton Raketich; and a son-in-law, Scott Tappy.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 29, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. A memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Father Michael Woempner will officiate. Burial will take place at the Homestead-Aurora Cemetery.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the nurses with Dickinson Home Health for the exceptional care given to Mary. Also a special thank you to her lifelong friend and neighbor, Perry Ellis, for all of his help throughout the years.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church.
