Rachel Riverside

She was born on April 21, 1936, in Iron River, the daughter of the late Charles and Pearl (LaVigne) Dennis.

Rachel married Walter A. Riverside on Sept. 21, 1954, and together they raised three children. They celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary in 2011. Walter preceded her in death on Feb.19, 2012.

She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cooking, baking, and spending time with her family.

Rachel is survived by her brother, Clifford Gendron; son Curtis (Jean) Riverside of Crystal Falls; grandchildren Joshua (Carla) Modrak, Matt (Kristin Zyskowski) Modrak, Lisa Modrak, Travis Riverside, Christopher Foster, Justyna (Jake) Skolasinski, Kristyna (Tyler) Laturi, and Justin (Alli) Foster; great-grandchildren Jason, Jon, Pearl, Jaxon, Jae-Lynn, and Ruby; sister-in-law Mary Jane Soderberg; brothers-in-law Anton Demboski and Robert Ketchum; many nieces and nephews; extended family; and friends.

She was preceded in death by her son, Ramon Riverside; daughter Virginia Modrak; brothers Floyd, Orville, Charles, and Leo Dennis; and sisters Gladys Kinney, Adeline Brunell, Elaine Hooser, Mildred Muriel Jean, Cleo Richard, Roselind Demboski, and Yvonne Ketchum.

A visitation will be held on Friday, May 15, from 11 a.m. to noon at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. A Liturgy of the Word service will follow at noon, with Deacon Terry Verville to officiate.
