David M. Hoheisel

MARSHFIELD, Wis. — David M. Hoheisel, 58, of Hewitt, Wis., passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at Marshfield Medical Center.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 19, at St. John Catholic Church in Marshfield, with visitation from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. The Rev. Joseph O’Hara will officiate. A livestream of the service will be available on David’s obituary page at rembsfh.com. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.

David was born on Sept. 11, 1967, in Norway, to Robert and Mary (Yourkoski) Hoheisel. He graduated from Norway High School and Michigan Tech University. He was united in marriage to Christa Dunbar on Dec. 12, 1997, in Gaylord, Mich.

David was an avid outdoorsman. His love of the outdoors extended to spending time at camp, fishing, hunting, or simply sitting around a campfire with family and friends, sharing stories and creating memories. The outdoors was where he felt most at peace and where many of his happiest moments were spent.

His passion for the outdoors also led him to a career in the composite panel industry, which he affectionately described by saying that he “took round trees, chopped them up, and made them flat.” Over the course of a distinguished 35-year career, David became a highly respected wood scientist and particleboard specialist. His expertise, dedication, and contributions to the industry earned him the admiration and respect of colleagues throughout the field.

Family was extremely important to David, and he would do absolutely anything to support those he loved. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose kindness, generosity, and steady presence could always be counted on. Whether offering a helping hand, words of encouragement, or simply showing up when needed, David consistently put the needs of others before his own.

He is survived by his wife, Christa; sons Adam Hoheisel of Hewitt, Wis., Nicholas (Brianna) Hoheisel of Big Bend, Wis., and Lucas (Lisa Lacoursiere — fiancée) Hoheisel of Rapid City, S.D.; one grandchild, Wesley, and one on the way.

He is further survived by his parents, Robert and Mary; sisters Kathy (Jeff) Barnett of Ann Arbor, Mich., Carol (Tim) Mooney of Toledo, Ohio, and Susan (Mike) Bovee of Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.; and brothers Daniel (Debra) Hoheisel of Marshfield and Karl (Patsy) Hoheisel of Hudson, Ill.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Arauco-North America and the School District of Spencer for their unwavering support, along with the Marshfield Medical Center Oncology and Palliative Care teams.
