Dorothy M. Izzo

IRON MOUNTAIN — Dorothy M. Izzo, 100, formerly of Iron Mountain and more recently living near family in Appleton, Wis., passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at Touchmark Senior Living.

Dorothy was born on May 13, 1926, in Norway, the daughter of the late Walter and Hulda Brisson. After graduating as class valedictorian from Norway High School, Dorothy pursued a nursing degree in Chicago, and subsequently became a practicing registered nurse at the Veterans Hospital in Iron Mountain.

She met her future husband of 64 years, Carl, at the wedding of her brother, Les Brisson, and Carl’s sister, Rose, and they married in 1951. Dorothy became a stay-at-home mother while her children were growing up and later returned to the medical profession as a nurse trainer at Evergreen Senior Living in Kingsford. Taking care of others was always a priority throughout her long life, whether caring for her children, patients, grandchildren, or eventually great-grandchildren. Because she outlived all but one of her sisters-in-law, she became a parent figure to many nieces and nephews.

Dorothy loved watching sports, and even more so if it involved family. She was a faithful member of the Trinity United Methodist Church and was active in the choir and various church circles. After moving to Appleton, she became a member of First United Methodist Church.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Tom (Lupe) Izzo of East Lansing, Mich.; daughters Mary Bucklin of Marietta, Ga., and Anne (Mark) Levandoski of Appleton; six grandchildren, Raquel (Matt) McDonald, Steven Izzo, Michael Bucklin, Matthew (Morgan) Bucklin, Quinn (Kate) Levandoski and Kevin (Brianne) Levandoski; six great-grandchildren; son-in-law David Bucklin; and sister-in-law Bernita Brisson.

Visitation for Dorothy Izzo will be held on Wednesday, July 29, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home. The family will conduct a memorial service, followed by a time of sharing. Burial will be in Iron Mountain Cemetery Park.
