Joseph F. Nawn
NIAGARA, Wis. — Joseph F. Nawn, 72, of Niagara, passed away Saturday, June 20, 2026, at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers.
Joe was born on Sept. 19, 1953, in Holland, Mich., son of the late Francis and Verna (VanDort) Nawn. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army.
On Jan. 19, 1996, Joe married Theresa Flynn in Manistique. She preceded him in death in 2010.
In his younger years, Joe worked in carpentry and construction. Among his favorite jobs was working aboard commercial fishing boats, catching king crab off the East Coast. In 1997, he joined the City of Niagara Water Treatment Plant, where he faithfully served for 20 years before retiring in 2017.
Joe was a devoted member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Niagara. A talented carpenter and true jack-of-all-trades, he could build, repair, or fix just about anything. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed spending time in the woods and fishing. Sharing coffee and breakfast with friends was a weekly occurrence he thoroughly enjoyed. Joe had a special love for animals and was especially fond of the many dogs he had over the years.

Above all else, Joe cherished time with his family. Nothing brought him greater joy than being with his children and grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.
Joe is survived by his three daughters, Lacey Schnurer (Jeremiah Dallman) of Shiocton, Wis., Katelyn Swartout of Iron Mountain, and Sarah Nawn (William Bushie) of Menomonee Falls, Wis.; six grandchildren, Malikai, Zeplin, Phoenix, Xavier, Amelia, and Tucker; his mother-in-law, Ellen Flynn; and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Theresa, Joe was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Robert Flynn.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 27, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Niagara, from 9 until 11 a.m. The Funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Father Joseph Dorner will offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will take place in Niagara Cemetery.
