LaVerne M. Raiche

HERMANSVILLE — LaVerne M. Raiche, 99, formerly of Hermansville, passed away Thursday, June 11, 2026, surrounded by her family at Freeman Nursing Home in Kingsford.

LaVerne was born on Dec. 26, 1926, in Kingsford, daughter of the late Fred and Sarah (Rouse) Poupore. She graduated from Kingsford High School in 1944, and on June 19, 1948, she married Donald Raiche at the American Martyrs Catholic Church in Kingsford; he preceded her in death on Oct. 2, 1989.

After high school, she worked as a telephone operator in Chicago until her marriage. She also worked in the kitchen at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility, retiring in 1984. She was a member of American Legion Post 340 Women’s Auxiliary and St. Mary Catholic Church in Hermansville and later at St. Mary’s in Norway. LaVerne enjoyed dancing, sewing, baking, cooking, camping, traveling, playing cards and spending time at the Adoration Chapel. LaVerne also sang in the choir at St. Mary Catholic Church in Hermansville.

LaVerne is survived by her seven children, Michael (Tamara) Raiche of Marinette, Wis., Larry (Helen) Raiche of Iron Mountain, Kathryn Halverson of Australia, Janice Hartwig of Howell, Mich., Ken (Kari) Raiche of Marion, Iowa, Paul Raiche of Norway, and Alan (Donica) Raiche of Smyrna, Tenn.; a sister, Mary Jane Ray of Norway; sister-in-law Theresa Jasken of Hortonville, Wis.; 23 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17, at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain, with a rosary at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 18, at American Martyrs Catholic Church, with Father Greg Heikkala officiating. Burial will be at the Hermansville Cemetery in Meyer Township.
