Mary Schroeder

After graduating from Kingsford High School in 1972, Mary earned an associate’s degree in secretarial science from Lake Superior State University. She spent time traveling across the United States before returning to Kingsford. Mary worked at WE Energies for 32 years as a secretary and mapper. There, she met her husband of 44 years, Gary. Together they raised two children, Claire and Louie.

Mary was always a stylish dresser and loved to shop. She had a wonderful sense of humor and remained warm and generous throughout multiple health issues.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Audrey and Robert Abel; her son, Louie, who died in June 2025; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Joanne and Robert Schroeder; her brothers-in-law, Mark Schroeder and Mike DallaValle; and her nephew, Cooper Schroeder.

She is survived by her husband, Gary; her daughter, Claire; her granddaughter, Bianca Stanchina; her sisters, Sue DallaValle and Ginna (Joe) Ferris; brother-in-law Greg Schroeder; her nephews, Rob (Emily) Ferris, Dave Ferris, and Gage Schroeder; as well as many treasured friends whose company she enjoyed throughout her lifetime. She will remain in the prayers and hearts of those who love and miss her.

Per her request, no public funeral services will be held.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. VanLaanen and her team for their many years of exceptional care.
