IRON MOUNTAIN — Linda Jane Bazan (formerly McKenna), 89, of Iron Mountain, passed away on Friday, June 26, 2026, at Optalis Health & Rehabilitation in Kingsford.
Linda was born on Sept. 13, 1936, in New York City to John “Mac” and Mildred McKenna. She grew up alongside her sister, Jacquelyn Martin, and spent her early years in New York, where she met the love of her life, Anthony “Tony” Bazan. The two were married on Aug. 17, 1957, and later made their home in Iron Mountain in the late 1960s, where they built a life together and remained for the rest of their lives.
Linda is survived by her children, Pamela (Scott) Uren, Christopher Bazan, and Patrick (Beth) Bazan; her grandchildren, Allissa Dailey, McKenna LaFave, Bryce Bazan, Zachery Gazda, and Marissa Grondine; and her great-grandson, Cole.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Tony; her sister, Jacquelyn; and her parents.
Linda spent many years working at the Crystal Lake Community Center, but her greatest joy and purpose was caring for others. Whether raising her own children, spoiling her grandchildren, or spending years working with the children of Head Start, she had a gift for making kids feel loved, safe, and encouraged. She genuinely enjoyed teaching and helping children grow, and she is remembered fondly by many of the families whose lives she touched.

When she wasn’t caring for others, Linda could usually be found with her dog on her lap and a good book in her hands. James Patterson was one of her favorite authors. She also had a knack for art and spent countless hours drawing and painting. She never outgrew her tomboy spirit and loved watching sports. She rarely missed a NASCAR race and always enjoyed cheering on her favorite teams, especially the Yankees.
A lifelong Catholic, Linda was a devoted member of St. Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon on Thursday, July 9, at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home, 901 Carpenter Ave., with Father Greg Heikkala officiating the funeral service at noon.
Condolences may be expressed to the family of Linda Jane Bazan online at www.ernashfuneralhomes@gmail.com.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the arrangements.
