Robert Hoheisel

NORWAY — Robert James “Bob” Hoheisel passed away peacefully at Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield, Wis., on June 25, 2026, at the age of 89.

Bob was born on June 28, 1936, in Norway, the son of the late Emmanuel “Emil” and Josephine (Tavernini) Hoheisel.

He graduated from Norway High School in 1954 and later from Michigan Tech University with a drafting degree. He worked for Lakeshore Engineering in Kingsford until his retirement in 2001.

He served his country as an infantryman in the U.S. Army in Germany from 1957 to 1959.

Bob married Mary Yourkoski on Sept. 3, 1960, in St. Barbara Catholic Church in Vulcan.

Bob loved being outdoors, especially walking the woods at camp, The 4 Bucks Chalet, founded with his three sons in 1991.

He loved his children but his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his joy. They benefited from his baking skills with “Grandpa Buns” and his special apple cinnamon kuchen ready and waiting on the counter when they arrived for a visit.

Family, friends and neighbors could also rely on a gift of Christmas fudge at holiday time.

We love you so much and miss you. You will be forever in our hearts.

Bob is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary; five children, Kathy (Jeff) Barnett, Carol (Tim) Mooney, Susan (Mike) Bovee, Dan (Deb) Hoheisel, Karl (Patsy) Hoheisel and beloved daughter-in-law Christa Hoheisel; 16 grandchildren, Joshua, Sara, Emily, Claire, Hannah, Maria, Alexander, Chase, Kaitlyn, Trevor, Adam, Nicholas, Lucas, William, Patrick and Sophie; eight great-grandchildren, Lance, Leo, Julia, Noah, Stefan, Luca, Rhys, and Wesley; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded by his son, David (Christa) Hoheisel; his sisters, Marlea Bray and Marjorie Meiner; and his brother, Jerome Hoheisel.

Family will greet friends on Thursday, July 9, from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Norway.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 9, at 11 a.m. at the church, with Father Abraham Mupparathara officiating.
