FLORENCE, Wis. -- James "Jim" Joseph Kunz, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, April 13, 2026, surrounded by loved ones after a brief illness.
He was born on Sept. 18, 1940, in Ironwood, to the late Ed and Loretta (Nadolny) Kunz.
Jim quickly developed a passion for hockey and baseball that continued throughout his life. Jim graduated from St. Ambrose Catholic High School in 1959 and completed pharmacy school at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma.
After serving as a pharmacist for many years at Schultz Pharmacy in Oshkosh, Wis., Jim eventually became the owner of Falls Drug Store in Crystal Falls, until his retirement.
He is survived by his loving wife, Janet (Allan) Kunz; daughters Jamie, Nancy and Anita (Robert), Deidre; son James Jr.; granddaughter Katie (Jordan); stepchildren Kim (George,) David, Jennifer (George), Todd (Kari), Lisa (Vince), and Robert (Jacque); and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brother, John; and a nephew, Jeffrey.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Aug. 28, from 10 until 11 a.m. at the Jacobs-Lundholm Funeral Home in Florence, Wis. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Soja Joseph will officiate.
