IRON MOUNTAIN -- Jane C. Johnson, 88, of Iron Mountain, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at Marshfield Medical Center-Dickinson in Iron Mountain.
She was born Feb. 25, 1938, in Escanaba, daughter of the late Earl and Clara (Kosloske) Frechette. Jane grew up in Escanaba before moving to Iron Mountain. She was a graduate of Iron Mountain High School.
After graduation, she attended school in Port Huron, receiving her degree in nursing. She worked as a school nurse in St. Claire County for 20 years. Jane moved back to Iron Mountain in 2012 to be closer to her family.
She enjoyed cooking and shopping as well as going to the casino with her grandson, Jared.
Survivors include her son, Paul Johnson of Iron Mountain; daughter-in-law Jane Zawada of Iron Mountain; brother John Frechette of North Carolina; grandchildren Jared Johnson and Austin Blomquist, both of Iron Mountain; nieces Kate (Tony) Thacker of North Carolina and Adrienne (Fred) Doerr of Crystal Falls; one nephew, Billy (Christy) Greiser of Ohio; and great-nieces and nephews Nathan, Nicholas, Stephanie and Charlotte.
In addition to her parents, Jane was preceded in death by one son, Donny Johnson; and one sister, Kay Greiser.
Visitation will be held on Monday, Aug. 10, from 10 until 11 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Jim Danielson will officiate.
