IRON MOUNTAIN -- Patricia M. Heisenfeldt, 79, of Iron Mountain, passed away Sunday, Aug. 16, 2026, at Optalis Health and Rehabilitation of Kingsford.
Pat was born on Dec. 16, 1946, in Iron Mountain, the daughter of the late Walter J. and Enrica (Aimone) Nault. Several days after being born, Pat's mother died. She was cared for by her aunt, Emily Nault, and family members until her father married Dorothy Ashenbrenner in 1950.
She attended St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic School and Iron Mountain Public Schools, graduating with the Class of 1964.
At the age of 16, Pat began working for AT&T in Iron Mountain. When that office closed, she transferred to the Milwaukee office and worked there until retirement.
Weekends were spent with her best friend, Joyce, fishing the Menominee River, taking road trips exploring the U.P. of Michigan and finding treasures at all the yard, garage and rummage sales they could fit in.
After retirement, you could find her reading a book on her backyard swing or caring for her flower and vegetable gardens.
Through fall and winter, she watched "her" sports teams. If the Packers or the MSU Spartans were playing, she was watching.
There is so much gratitude to be extended to all those who cared for Pat and encouraged her through her journey with cancer.
The family wants to thank the Marshfield Medical Center-Dickinson Cancer Center, Marshfield Medical Center-Dickinson, Optalis Health and Rehabilitation, and ALL the doctors and nurses for their compassionate care. Also, thank you to her primary physician, Dr. Amy.
And finally, heartfelt thanks to her friends and neighbors who were there to cut the lawn, shovel snow, pick up the mail, play Trivia, send a text, call to check on her, stopped in to visit, or brought her a hot meal or a special treat. Pat was so appreciative of all of you.
She is survived by cousins Warren and Rose Gianunzio, and their son Michael; and Louisa Gianunzio and her daughters, Denise and Chrissy.
In addition to her parents and stepmother, Pat was preceded in death by cousins Barry Gianunzio and his children, Paul and Lisa; and her best friend, Joyce Emke.
Visitation will be Thursday, Aug. 20, from 10 until 11 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. A memorial service led by Father Mark McQuesten will take place at 11 a.m. Burial will be in the Iron Mountain Cemetery.
