FLORENCE, Wis. -- Robert Ray Paul, 78, of Spread Eagle, Wis., passed away Monday, Aug. 17, 2026, at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, Wis.

He was born July 18, 1948, in Stambaugh, son of the late Charles and Shirley (Jonaus) Paul. Robert grew up in Caspian and graduated from Stambaugh High School. Robert proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He continued to serve in the United States National Guard and Reserves for many years. After his honorable discharge, he attended Michigan Tech University, where he earned his degree in civil engineering.

Robert worked as a construction estimator for many years, working throughout Wisconsin and Michigan. In his younger years, he participated in many marathons. Robert enjoyed kayaking and listening to country music and Jimmy Buffett.

He is survived by one son, James Paul of Marinette, Wis.; two daughters, Janet (Paul) Smith of Huntsville, Ala., and Jessica (Paul) Meyers of De Pere, Wis.; two brothers, Charles (Peggy) Paul of Marquette and James Paul of Caspian; two grandchildren, Trenton Meyers of Green Bay and Levi Smith of Alabama; and by a sister-in-law, Jill Paul of lower Michigan.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by one brother, John Paul.

Visitation will be Friday, Aug. 21, 2026, from noon until 1:30 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Prayers will be recited at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held 2 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Iron Mountain. Father Michael Chenier will officiate.

Burial in Stambaugh Cemetery will take place on Monday, Aug. 24, at 2 p.m. The Westside Veterans Council will accord military honors at 2 p.m. at the cemetery.
