Sally Groulx

IRON MOUNTAIN -- Sally Groulx, 95, of Iron Mountain, passed away Friday, Aug. 7, 2026, at Freeman Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Kingsford.

Sally was born in Bay City, Mich., where she met Harry Groulx in high school English class and he later become her husband.

After graduating, Sally worked at Consumers Power Co. in the electric department before becoming a full-time homemaker.

As the family moved several times around Michigan, she was always very active in her church, with Bible study groups, singing in the choir, and working on special events.

She was also involved with her children's musical and athletic groups.

Always an outdoors lover, she also has bagged deer at home in Menominee and elk and moose out west.

She was always very involved with her family, even attending almost all of her grandchildren's events, frequently traveling over an hour and a half each way, after taking them out for treats of course.

She and her husband had roots in Menominee from 1969 until they moved to Iron Mountain on Lake Antoine in 2017 to be close to her family living here.

Her husband preceded her in death in 2023.

Sally is survived by her daughter, Kathie (Charlie) Maynard of Iron Mountain; son Bruce (Jeannette) Groulx of Aitkin, Minn.; grandchildren Brynn (Casey) Holmes of Iron Mountain and Neal Maynard of Wilson, Mich.; and great-grandsons Colin Holmes and Ben Holmes.

Her family wants to give a great big thank-you to the entire staff at Freeman Nursing & Rehabilitation Center and Dr. Groeneveld, and the family knows that Sally has too, for really caring about their residents, and always giving that little extra not seen often enough.

In keeping with Sally's wishes, no formal service will be held.

The family has chosen Jacobs Funeral Home to honor Sally’s legacy of life.
