WEST BEND, Wis. -- Barbara Jean (Norton) Weber, 62, born in West Bend, Wis., and a longtime resident of Aurora, Wis., passed away peacefully and comfortably on Sept. 9, 2026, surrounded by her family after a courageous two-year battle with cancer. Throughout her journey, Barb faced life's challenges with strength, grace, and determination while remaining devoted to the people and passions she loved most.
Barb was the definition of a selfless person. She spent her life putting the needs of family, friends, neighbors, and even strangers before her own. Her compassionate heart, warm smile, and genuine concern for others made a lasting impact on countless lives. She never met a stranger and had a unique ability to make everyone feel welcomed, valued, and loved.
A lifelong animal lover, Barb held a special affection for horses. Horses were not only her passion but a way of life. She also loved all animals and found special joy in the sight of cardinals, which always seemed to bring her comfort and peace. Whether caring for animals, lending a helping hand, or simply offering words of encouragement, Barb's kindness knew no bounds.
Barb also expressed her love for others through her incredible cooking and baking. Family gatherings, holidays, and special occasions were made even more memorable by the meals and treats she lovingly prepared. Christmas was especially dear to Barb, and she took great joy in bringing family together to celebrate the season with traditions, laughter, and unforgettable meals. Her famous Russian Fluff, beef stroganoff, Belgian waffles, and blueberry torte became cherished favorites among family and friends. Barb took pride in creating a home where everyone felt welcome, and her kitchen was always filled with warmth, hospitality, and love. Those fortunate enough to enjoy her cooking knew every dish was made with care and a generous helping of her heart.
One of Barb's proudest accomplishments was the life and business she built at Paradise Acres alongside her husband, Doug, and daughter, Miranda. Together they dedicated themselves to serving the equestrian community and supporting horseback riders throughout the region, while Barb also wholeheartedly supported Doug in running his cattle operation. Through years of hard work, dedication, and exceptional service, Barb became a trusted and respected figure among horse owners, riders, trainers, and enthusiasts across neighboring counties.
Her knowledge, honesty, and willingness to help earned her a reputation that extended far beyond the boundaries of Paradise Acres. Supported by Doug's partnership and their shared commitment to both the equestrian operations and the cattle business, Paradise Acres became more than a destination for farm and riding needs. It became a gathering place where lasting relationships and friendships were formed. For many in the horse and farming community, Barb was not just a business owner; she was a mentor and friend. The impact she, Doug, and Miranda made on countless riders, neighbors, and friends will continue to be felt for years to come.
Barb's heart overflowed with pride when it came to her children, Douglas "Bubba" and Miranda "Sissy." She never missed an opportunity to brag about their incredible drive and was always in awe of how remarkably young they both were when they established such impressive careers -- Doug as an accomplished chemical engineer, and Miranda as a skilled professional and entrepreneur in equestrian science. Seeing them achieve so much so early in life filled her with immense pride and joy.
Above all else, Barb's greatest joy was her family. She was a proud and devoted grandmother who treasured every opportunity to support her grandchildren. Some of her favorite times were traveling to Kentucky with Doug to watch Cole play basketball and baseball, and rooting for Ellie in softball and cheerleading. She also loved attending Kandace's figure skating and gymnastics events. No matter the venue, Barb was always there with encouragement, pride, and unwavering support, celebrating the accomplishments of the grandchildren she adored.
Barb is survived by her devoted husband of nearly 40 years, Douglas Brian Weber of Aurora; her son, Douglas John Weber and his wife, Leslie Weber, of Paducah, Ky., parents of her beloved grandchildren, Cole and Ellie; her daughter, Miranda Ruth Rose Schneider-Weber, and son-in-law, Aaron Schneider, both of Aurora, parents of her cherished granddaughter, Kandace.
She is also survived by her dearly loved brother, Bob Norton, who stood faithfully by her side through all of life's triumphs and challenges, and his wife, Sandy, of Iron Mountain and their son, Robert Norton and his wife, Juliann; her brother, John Norton; her sister, Janine Orzech; along with many extended family members, dear friends, and members of the equestrian community whose lives were touched by her kindness, wisdom, and friendship.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents, John Norton and Janet (Polenske) Norton.
Barb's family extends a special thank you to her dear friend, Kelly Kaczmarek, for her special friendship and support through the years. Deepest gratitude is also extended to Teresa Clement and the dedicated team at Maryhill Manor for their extraordinary care, compassion, and support in caring for Barb so wonderfully during her final days.
Although her family grieves the loss of her physical presence, they celebrate a beautiful life filled with love, compassion, generosity, and service to others. Barb leaves behind a legacy built on family, friendship, and an unwavering commitment to helping those around her. Through the lives she touched, the equestrian community she helped build, and the grandchildren she adored, her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
