QUINNESEC -- Francis "Butch" Pfeiffer, 85, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2026, surrounded by family at his home in Quinnesec.
Butch was born Dec. 16, 1940, in York, Pa., to the late Anna and Francis J. Pfeiffer. He grew up in Loretto, at his mother's family home.
Butch married Beverly (nee Chiles) in Flint, Mich., in 1963. They had three sons while living in Flint. The family moved in 1972 to the Loretto/Hamilton Lakes area, where they had their fourth child, a daughter. They had a beautiful marriage for 57 years until Bev's passing in 2020.
Butch was an active member of St. Barbara Catholic Church in Vulcan. In 1992, they moved to Quinnesec. Then he was an active member of American Martyrs Catholic Church in Kingsford. American Martyrs became his home parish for the remainder of his life, where he made many close friends and enjoyed fellowship with his church family.
Butch followed in his father's footsteps in becoming an electrician. He was a very proud member of the IBEW Local 219. Being a union electrician in the 1980s proved to be difficult to find work all the time. Butch never wanted to uproot his family, so if needed, he went out of town for work while his wife, Bev, stayed home and managed the household and kids.
He was in the SeaBees for the Navy and the Naval Reserve. He also was in the Army National Guard in Kingsford. All in all, Butch served his country proudly for 28 years. Throughout that time, he made many, many close friends that became lifelong friends right until the end.
After retirement, Butch volunteered at an organization that was near and dear to his heart, Habitat for Humanity. Countless houses were wired with his help.
As a father, his main source of joy came from helping his three sons with whatever project they wanted to do. Thousands of hours spanning four decades were spent on helping his three boys with their projects.
He enjoyed visits with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Seeing them always put a smile on Gpa's face.
Butch also found love again with a very special woman, Judy. Together they traveled and made beautiful memories with both families.
Francis "Butch" Pfeiffer is survived by four children, Michael (wife Cindy) Pfeiffer, Allen (wife Jodi) Pfeiffer, Stephen (Melissa Moore) Pfeiffer, and Wendy (husband Steve) Decker-McMillan; 10 grandchildren, Kayla (Mark) Kolbe, Ellary (Jeff) Gallino, Marissa (Steve) DeRoche, Heather (Kevin) Ellis, Faith Pfeiffer, Mitchell (Calli) Pfeiffer, Arianna (Bowen) Arola, Christian Pfeiffer, Lydia Decker, and Luke Decker; and six great-grandchildren, Taylor and Carson Ellis, Aribella and Joyanna DeRoche, Lyle Hettwer, and Leon Schumacher. He also is survived by two sisters, Agnes Maynard and Ruth Ricchezza; his sweetheart, Judy Angera; numerous nieces and a nephew; cousins; and a slew of close friends.
He now joins cherished relatives in Heaven: wife Beverly Pfeiffer, grandson Ryan Pfeiffer, son-in-law Paul Decker, and parents Anna and Francis "Fritz" Pfeiffer.
In lieu of flowers, the family will be making a donation to Habitat for Humanity in memory of Francis "Butch" Pfeiffer.
Visitation will be held 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 11, at American Martyrs Catholic Church in Kingsford, followed by a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at the church. Father Greg Heikkala will offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be at Norway Cemetery.
