IRON MOUNTAIN -- Glenn Larry Winters, 88, of Iron Mountain, passed away in the comfort of his own home on Thursday, Sept. 10, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Glenn, born on Jan. 26, 1938, lived a life defined by kindness, generosity, laughter, and an unwavering love for his family. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, quiet strength, and a heart that welcomed everyone he met.
Glenn proudly served his country in the USAF for seven years. After his military service, he built a career at the Groveland Mine until the mine closed; he worked several jobs. After retirement, Glenn continued working at Timberstone Golf Course, enjoying the friendships and purpose that came with staying active.
Glenn married the love of his life, Cherie Renee Winters, on Jan. 28, 1983, and together they built a life centered on love, family and making memories. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Glenn is survived by his wife, Cherie; his daughters, Tina (Mark) DalSanto, Vikki Beaver, and Cindi Gaines; his cherished grandchildren, Kelli Hines, Brandon Beaver, Nicole Beaver, Jackson Gaines, and Maddie Gaines; and a special friend, Jennifer Dunst.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Edith Winters; and his siblings, Joan, Clyde, Faith, Orville, Janelle, Duane and Gene.
Glenn embraced life with enthusiasm, whether he was golfing, skiing, painting pictures, singing a favorite song, cheering on his beloved Detroit Lions, or spending time with family and friends.
Those who knew Glenn will remember him for far more than his accomplishments. He had a gentle heart and a genuine kindness that made everyone feel welcome.
The graveside service will be held at the Amberg Cemetery in Amberg, Wis., at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 16, followed by a celebration of Glenn's life. The details of the celebration will be given out at the cemetery on Wednesday or online at www.ernashfuneralhomes.com.
