IRON MOUNTAIN -- Steven Mark Paquette, 68, of Iron Mountain, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2026, in the comfort of his own home.
He was born in Iron Mountain on Jan. 31, 1958, to the late Robert and Verna (Larson) Paquette. After graduating from Iron Mountain High School in 1976, Steve attended Northern Michigan University. In 1982, he married his first love, Tammy, and together they raised his only daughter, Stephanie. Steve worked at several local mills before retiring from Grede Foundry. In 2010, he met Mary Chereskin, with whom he spent the rest of his life in Iron Mountain.
Steve loved music, especially rock from the 1970s and 1980s, and was a talented guitarist and harmonica player. His creativity also came through in his paintings and drawings. He enjoyed camping, watching the Packers and Milwaukee Bucks, and caring for the birds he loved to watch and feed. He will be remembered as a kind and patient man, sitting in the sun with his faithful canine companion, Zoey, by his side.
Steven will be deeply missed by his significant other, Mary Chereskin; daughter Stephanie (Adam) Erickson; granddaughter Mya Erickson; and many other family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Steven is preceded in death by his brother, John Paquette.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home, 901 Carpenter Ave. in Iron Mountain, immediately followed by a celebration of life at the C & R Bar, W581 County Road N. in Aurora.
