CRYSTAL FALLS -- Howard S. Madsen, 82, of Crystal Falls, passed away Saturday, Oct. 3, 2026, at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, Wis.
He was born on Jan. 1, 1944, in Pampa, Texas, son of the late Shubert and Martha (Hillson) Madsen. Howard grew up in Waukegan, Ill., and graduated from Waukegan Township High School. After graduating, he enlisted in the United States Army and retired after 20 years of service.
He married Suk Cha Kim in April of 1991 in Korea. Following their marriage, they lived in Georgia, where Howard worked for the civil service for 23 years, teaching computer repair.
They moved to Crystal Falls in 2007.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and everything the outdoors had to offer.
He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Suk Cha; one son, Mark Madsen of San Diego, Calif.; one daughter, Julie Alexander of Key Largo, Fla.; one brother, John (Mimi) Madsen of Amasa; two sisters, Karen (Allen) Miller of Independence, Iowa, and Diane Beatty of Stockton, Ill.; four nephews, Zachary, Jacob, Jack, and Scott.
Private family visitation and service will be held at the Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home of Crystal Falls. The Eastside Veterans Council will provide military honors.
