IRON MOUNTAIN -- Thomas Raymond Smukowski, 91, of Iron Mountain, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2026, at Nuroc Health and Rehabilitation Center in Laona, Wis.
Tom was born on Feb. 7, 1935, in Milwaukee, son of the late Edwin J. and Catherine (Putzi) Smukowski. He graduated from Boys Tech High School in 1951 and continued his education at trade school. Throughout his career, Tom worked primarily in the tool and die casting industries, gaining experience with several different companies over the years.
In 2017, Tom married Martha Raiche, who preceded him in death in 2026.
Tom was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and was always happy to keep busy tinkering with projects. Whether working with his hands or enjoying the outdoors, Tom found satisfaction in staying active and making the most of his time.
Tom is survived by his four sons, Thomas Jr. (Kim) Smukowski, James Smukowski, Raymond (Jennifer) Smukowski, and Todd (Danielle Wu) Smukowski; one daughter, Tara Lee Smukowski; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Oct. 23, from noon until 1 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. A graveside service with military honors will follow at 1:15 p.m. at Quinnesec Cemetery, with Father Mike Chenier officiating. The Uren-Cooper-Johnson American Legion Post 50 of Iron Mountain will conduct military graveside honors.
