The fact of Easter

EDITOR:

Unfortunately the distraction has begun. You’ve seen it haven’t you? The cute colored “Easter Bunnies” the plastic “Easter Eggs,” the baskets the pastels, and on and on and on.

What do they distract us from? The Resurrection! Just think if you lived back in the day when a public execution could be seen by the whole town. Or if like the shooting of John F. Kennedy many people could see the death of one individual, but three days later many could see him alive again. Would you be the same?

The Bible contains historical facts verified by eye witnesses which during their life time other eye witnesses could discredit the accounts if possible.

Just for a moment try to be the prosecuting attorney to discredit the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Take off your religious bias and look at the facts.

1st evidence: Paul’s account as recorded in 1 Corinthians 15:4-8 “He (Jesus) was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that He appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. After that He appeared to more than 500 brethren at one time, most of whom remain until now, but some have fallen asleep; then He appeared to James, then to all the apostles, and last of all, as it were to one untimely born, He appeared to me also.

2nd evidence: 1 John 1:1-3 “What was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we beheld and our hands handled, concerning the Word of life–and the life was manifested, and we have seen and bear witness and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was manifested to us–what we have seen and heard we proclaim to you also, that you also may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ.”

The Resurrection is not a matter of faith, it is an affirmation of fact. It proves that Jesus is the life and death did not restrain Him. Don’t let the frills of Easter distract or distort the fact of Easter. Jesus is alive.
