State Rep. Beau LaFave’s recent photos posted on social media are being called insensitive and racist, according to an article on the online publication Michigan Advance. One photo depicts a meme where Gov. Gretchen Whitmer murders the state budget. The other shows LaFave posing with thumb’s up next to a mannequin with the words “Lost Hunter from Detroit.”

The 906 Dems, an organization of Democratic Party leaders across Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, calls for LaFave to stop embarrassing himself, his constituents and the office he holds.

We stand tall behind state Rep. Cynthia Johnson’s condemnation of this boorish behavior and join her in calling for LaFave’s apology. This is not the sort of attention a true Yooper seeks or condones.
