The outcome of the 2016 election brought to mind the only answer: “The Dumbing of America.”

I have read with disgust and dismay the replies to some of your opinion questions referring to the antics of the current occupant of the White House and certain letters to the editor, reinforcing my “dumbing of America.”

At the time of the 2016 presidential election, I firmly believed any woman with at least 1 ounce of self respect would never vote for Trump, who thought and still thinks the female gender is put on earth for his pleasure, to use, abuse and throw out. I also thought there wouldn’t be a single veteran who would vote for a draft dodger, who criticized John McCain for being a prisoner of war, who continues to berate our servicemen, i.e. “a mere headache” as opposed to the real diagnosis brain injury. These most recent injuries to our servicemen caused by the reckless killing of a general, which in the final analysis took the lives of over 170 innocent people on an airplane. Their blood is on the draft dodger’s hands. During his campaign, he belittled the couple who had lost their son in combat in Iraq, even though the man (the wife did not speak) knew the Constitution by heart. Criticism by a draft dodger! To add insult to injury to our veterans, during his State of the Union address he gave a medal to Rush Limbaugh.

Now as to who is crooked — Hillary Clintons e-mails have been autopsied so many times they are probably in shreds. Guess what — nothing wrong. Or didn’t Fox tell you?

Further to who is crooked — the draft dodger at the time of the election had 3,500 lawsuits against him, fraud at his foundation — the money that was supposed to support veterans instead it went to support him the draft dodger! Then there was the Trump Academy heist — guilty by jury — pay back $25 million. Surrounded by crooks, jailed, some sentences pending unless his toady Barr jumps high enough. This is just the tip of the iceberg. Guess who should be locked up? He’d be with his buddies, partners in crime. Does Fox news tell you any of this? Of course ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS, MSNBC, CNBC, the Wall Street Journal, Washington Post and every other major newspaper, even The Daily News, are all fake news. There are none so blind as those who cannot read or hear. Try a different channel and see and hear what you’ve been missing. It might be educational.

I grew up in a home where one of my parents lived in Finland during the time of the Russian invasion. Her brothers were part of the victorious ski troops. Finns take pride in using butter to make all foods more pleasing. The Finns have a saying, “You can fry a Russian in butter but it’s still a Russian.” I’m sure Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, the American serviceman, grew up in a household like I, where we heard first-hand knowledge of the Russians. Mr. Vindman testified during the impeachment hearings because it was the honorable thing to do when you love your country. Guess what — he was fired for telling the truth, along with a host of others. Of course, Putin is our draft dodger’s best buddy, even better than our FBI, CIA etc.

Remember, Rome fell from the inside — and yes, it is happening with the help of the draft dodger and the Republican Senate. Does Banana Republic sound familiar?
