Though spring seems so far in the distance, this is a good time to be thinking ahead to things that can only be done when the weather cooperates. The August Lilja Trust has promoted and completed many beautification efforts in the Iron Mountain area over the years and the committee that makes the decisions as to the yearly project or projects would welcome ideas from the community.

Unfortunately, the work can only be done within the Iron Mountain city limits; this is according to the will of the donor. If you have an idea or ideas, please put your suggestions in writing and leave at City Hall with a note to pass it on to the Lilja Trust Committee. If you do not want to sign your name that is acceptable, but details are helpful.

The Lilja Trust does have some limitations. We cannot do work on privately owned property and we cannot do Christmas decorations. This, also, is according to the will of the donor, Madge Lilja. Think big or think small — a really large project can be stretched over more than a year.
