Group looks for Veterans Day Dinner donations

The Dickinson County Area Veterans Alliance is raising money for the annual Veterans Day Dinner, which honors all veterans — past and present.

This year’s event will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, at the American Legion Post 145 in Norway. It will be a culmination of a day in which we honor our veterans.

Our costs are defrayed by donations from area organizations and businesses. We would greatly appreciate any assistance that businesses or organizations might be able to give. We also collect small items to be given as door prizes.

The Veterans Alliance is a 401(c)(3) non-profit organization, so gifts can be listed as charitable donations on taxes.

The Dickinson County Area Veterans Alliance is composed of veteran representatives from service groups and interested citizens within 50 miles of the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center. In the past, the alliance contributed to the Feeding America events at Breitung Township, with veterans given preference; planned and carried out the 2018 veterans banquet, which supported the U.P. Honor Flight; helped with the Dickinson County Memorial Day service; and financially assisted area veterans who needed immediate help throughout the pandemic. We are a resource for the Dickinson County Veterans Affairs Office with “urgent need” situations.

Veterans Day banquet chairperson is Gladys Ethington. She can be reached at 906-448-9302 for pick up of any donations.

The group thanks all in advance that contribute for their generosity and continued support.
