We all are the US government

I have been watching the news lately and see the “talking heads” are being sensational again but failing to remind people of simple facts.

First, when they are talking about the United States government, that means us. You me, all of us. If you are a citizen, you are part of the United States government. What a thought, huh? That sure takes the wind out of your sails. If YOU are the United States government, who do you complain about when things are not as you believe they should be. I have the answer. We hire managers to run things and they have titles. Senators (you have two) and Congressman (you have one). They are elected (hired) by us to manage the affairs of government.

I did not say they do a good job of it, but in the past 19 months just a bit more than half of them have done more for all of us in managing those affairs then in the past several administrations. The other half have been sitting on their hands, throwing verbal stones and waiting for their party to come back “in power” so they can reverse all that has been done in those 19 months. Maybe in November we should just fire them and hire people who will do the job all the time. Unless of course you like to pay for nothing much and inefficiency.

I imagine somewhere there is someone with diabetes who is screaming about their insulin costs being limited and want a return to paying sky-high prices for the medication they need to survive. They probably also want to return to black-and-white TV, only three channels and neat things like polio. There is a few in every batch!

I have a few more thoughts but I want this to sink in so I will stop here. But remember, YOU are the United States government. Imagine that! We govern ourselves, but only when we take a part and do what is required of us. That includes thinking, voting and keeping those above-mentioned managers in line and doing what we want them to do.
