Proposal 3 not ‘too confusing’

Proposal 3 is written in plain language, so at first I laughed at the ads. “Too confusing?” For whom? It felt a bit like being told not to worry my pretty little head; just let the menfolk handle the politics.

The sheer condescension in the ad rankles. But now I’m really angry at the black lies being promulgated by these “moral” people. Received a glossy brochure stating that because the proposal doesn’t specify “adult,” any 10-year-old can get medical treatment without the parents’ knowledge. You know what else doesn’t specify “adult”? The Second Amendment (and Article 1, Section 6 of our state constitution). By this logic, then, any 4-year-old has a legal right to carry a loaded gun. This is plainly ludicrous.

The truth is, Proposal 3 simply continues the rights we’ve had for the past 50 years. As to termination up to nine months: another black lie. Under current law, pregnancy cannot be terminated after 20 weeks except a compelling medical reason. This doesn’t change.

It appears those who oppose Proposal 3 are using immoral means to convince you of the superior morality of their position.

Remember, if abortion is banned, women with money will still have access to safe abortions. The wealthy politicians and moral arbiters who push their restrictive laws will never have to live under them.
