Make your voices heard

Just over a year ago a few people decided they wanted to make a difference and they told some friends. Their friends thought it was a great idea and momentum built. These friends got involved, and their friends got involved too. Against all odds, their voices were heard.

This band of rebels, like many of you, realized that both political parties were wings of the same dysfunctional bird. And without the cooperation of both wings, the bird is completely unable to fly.

So these friends took a stand and went to work. If you voted recently, you may have noticed many new precinct delegates on the ballot this past November. In fact, Dickinson County precinct delegate numbers increased from 12 to 63 in 2022. And there have been many new additions to the local Dickinson County Republican Party. Local party numbers increased by two-thirds, but it wasn’t increasing in number with “Old Establishment Republicans.” It saw an infusion of people looking for change.

There have been rumblings and rumors about a hostile takeover of the Dickinson County Republican Party. I was there, it was not the least bit hostile. It may have been shocking to some, but it showed the resolve of free citizens exercising their rights to speak out. It was honorably adjudicated, overseen by representatives LaFave and McBroom, and the entire process strictly adhered to MIGOP Rules.

The fact is, Dickinson County is not anomalous. This movement to take control back from the establishment is happening across the country. I encourage everyone to get involved. Make your voices heard. If you stayed away from the Republican Party in the past, join now and know you have a voice here.

If you have always been a Democrat but feel the party has abandoned you, I recommend you take your party back or, come and see the other side through your own eyes, we would love to have you.

This moment is not fleeting, and the resolve of my friends is not weak.

I am proud introduce the newly elected leadership of the Dickinson County Republican Party —

— Chair: Terry Testolin;

— Vice Chair: Angela Hall;

— Secretary: Shannon Unrein;

— Treasurer: Vikki Jakel.
