The end

It’s been an enjoyable ride following sports through the years but like anything else all good things must come to an end and for me that end has come. The money that athletes are being paid in this day and age, including those in college, is just a little too much to take. The number one female gymnast at Louisiana State University would not disclose exactly how much money she is being paid through the name image likeness deals she has, but she did state that it is in seven figures. In other words, she’s a millionaire. One can only imagine what the top football players are making.

One of the keys to living a satisfactory and happy life is to be thankful for the things that you have and it makes only sense that the game or contest that the athlete is involved in is not going to mean as much to that person whether you win or lose when you’re going home to a mansion and you’ve got a few million dollars in your bank account. There are a number of NBA players today who make about $20 million to $40 million a year, as there are in baseball and football. Aaron Rodgers is guaranteed approximately $60 million this coming season if he comes back the way his contract is structured.

There was a time in professional sports when the athletes greatly depended on the money they were paid if they made the playoffs. Unfortunately that’s gone by the wayside. So so long, sports world. I know you won’t miss me and the way things are today, I won’t miss you. But I will miss the way the sports world used to be.
