Praying for discernment
Although I disagree with many things that are published here, never have I thought about sending a derogatory response to anyone’s home. Unfortunately, that occurs nearly every time that I send a letter to the editor. I’ve even been told that I’m not a real Christian because of what I believe. I think that’s a sad commentary on where we are in this country. Why is there so much division and downright hatred?
I may not agree with you, but I don’t hate you. Your opinion doesn’t make you a bad person. But disagreeing with you doesn’t make ME a bad person, either. Not only am I supposed to keep quiet; I must accept YOUR truth as MY truth. Period.
But that ain’t gonna happen. As soon as the pandemic started, I began praying for God to give me discernment. I asked Him to keep me from following the wrong voices, and I continue to do that every day. But even with His help, I’ve had to do my part: Seek the truth. So I read a lot, and then form an opinion based on what I’ve learned. In my opinion, media is a big part of what is dividing this country right now. It’s extremely biased, no matter which side you’re listening to.
So I ask each one of you to pray for discernment. Don’t follow the wrong voices, which breed hate. Research the truth yourself. God will let you know when you’ve found it; you’ll have a peace in your heart that tells you so. We have far more that unites us than divides us — so let’s build on that. I fear that we’re losing this wonderful country and only we can stop it. God bless.
