First Presbyterian Church to honor retiring pastor

PASTOR MIKE AND LORNA MARCH

It is with great joy, love and well wishes that First Presbyterian Church of Kingsford announces the retirement of Pastor Michael March, effective the end of September. Pastor Mike and his wife Lorna were called to our community and church in November 1991, and they will enjoy retirement in their beloved Upper Peninsula.

Faithfully proclaiming the Word of God in over 1,500 sermon messages and serving the FPC family and community for almost 32 years, Pastor Mike has left a profound impact on the lives of many people in the area.

Over the years, hundreds of people have benefited from his spirit-filled leadership and counsel during Cursillo Movement weekends at Mary Grove and local Ultreya gatherings.

Thirty years ago, Pastor Mike spearheaded the planning and organizing of the annual FPC Christmas Dinner, and he also serves every Monday evening at the FPC Community Meal program. Tens of thousands of meals have been served to our friends and neighbors in the Dickinson County area, thanks to Pastor Mike and the many FPC members who volunteer to coordinate the programs for the community.

The Iron Mountain Clergy Association and Christians for Racial Understanding organizations have been blessed with Pastor Mike’s membership.

Lorna has given so much of herself to her church family and her community by sharing her faith and gift of music. Lorna’s beautiful voice and instrumental talents have been a wonderful music ministry that has been enjoyed by many.

Most importantly, Pastor Mike and Lorna have been an inspiration and a blessing to hundreds of children and young adults through their leadership and guidance during Vacation Bible School, Wednesday Kid’s Club throughout the school year, Presbytery Point Summer Camp and multiple mission trips.

First Presbyterian Church would like to invite the Iron Mountain/Kingsford community to an open house from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, as we celebrate and honor Pastor Mike and Lorna March.
