Jack and Jim, birds of a feather

Jack Bergman is showing his true colors again. He supported Jim Jordan, an ex-wrestling coach from Ohio who reportedly failed to speak up when his wrestlers were being sexually assaulted by team doctor Richard Strauss.

Bergman and Jordan voted against certification of Pennsylvania and Arizona votes on Jan. 6. In December 2020, Bergman sided with Texas attorney general’s attempt to deny the results of the November Michigan presidential vote. Bergman voted for Jordan to be Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives three times last week. Now Bergman wants to be speaker in place of Jordan whom he supported.

Last week, Democratic Whip Katherine Clark said about Jordan. “At every single turn, Jim Jordan has prioritized politics, power, fear, division and hate over the American people,” Clark added, “Every Republican who casts their vote for him is siding with an insurrectionist against our democracy.” Bergman was one of those Republicans.

Jack and Jim are one of a kind. Jordan, thankfully, will not be speaker and neither should Bergman. These two birds of a feather should not nest in the chair of the Speaker of the House.
